Walking or bicycling on the Jacobspad
from Uithuizen to Hasselt

Pilgrimages are of all times. Of the largest and most known pilgrimage places in Europe is Santiago the Compostela in Spain.  The pilgrim path (`Jacobspad') have been dedicated to Jacobus the superior, one of the apostels of Jesus and the brother of Johannes the evangelist. Component of the pilgrim route is the Jacobspath of Uithuizen to Hasselt.

Also from the Netherlands annually a thousand walkers or cyclists leave. They are gone below, litterally and figurative. The walking of the pilgrim path itself and or cycling discovered (or its) link with the `higher'. the walking and/or bicycle excursion becomes thus still pleasure by religious and spiritual aims.

The starting point

The start point of the Jacobspath is at the catholic church Jacobus the superior to the Main street at Uithuizen. Here you find also the monument that this spot marks.
